Questions
Can the same CE count toward NREMT and my state license?
In CurrentCert, yes: hours are logged once and mapped to each credential they satisfy, so your NREMT, your state license and your specialty certs all move together. Whether a given course is accepted is decided by each issuer. The renewal guide marks where each requirement came from so you can check it.
How long should I keep EMS CE certificates?
The National Registry says to keep CE documentation for 36 months; audits are random. CurrentCert stores the certificate with the CE record and keeps every past version of a credential, so the file is there when an audit asks for it.
Does online CE count toward NREMT recertification?
Yes. Online (distributive) education has had no cap at any NREMT level since 2022. Accepted education is State-EMS-Office-approved and CAPCE-accredited coursework, EMS education program credit, and U.S. accredited academic credit, all of it related directly to EMS patient care.
What CE does not count for NREMT?
Duplicate courses, clinical rotations, instructor courses, management or leadership courses, performance of duty, preceptor hours, serving as a skills examiner, and volunteer time with agencies. CurrentCert tracks what you log; the issuer decides what it accepts.
