How do you renew an EMS certification in Virginia?
Virginia has adopted a customized version of the 2025 NCCP model. Providers move to the 2025 Virginia Recertification Requirements at their next recertification, for NREMT dates on or after March 31, 2026. Standard totals mirror NCCP: EMR 16, EMT 40, AEMT 50 and paramedic 60. Virginia also keeps a state-only Intermediate level, which needs a 28-hour National component and roughly 55 hours in total.
