How do you renew an EMS certification in South Dakota?
South Dakota licenses EMR, EMT, AEMT and paramedic through the Board of Medical and Osteopathic Examiners, with licenses expiring April 30 of the second calendar year after issuance. Under ARSD 20:61:03:01, effective November 19, 2024, you renew either with current NREMT certification or with state hours: 8 for EMR and 20 for EMT in basic life support studies, 40 for AEMT and 60 for paramedic in advanced life support studies.
