How do you renew an EMS certification in Rhode Island?
Rhode Island requires NREMT for EMRs, AEMTs, paramedics and any EMT licensed after January 1, 2012, so the NCCP hours apply. EMTs licensed before 2012 and AEMT-Cardiac providers may instead complete the Rhode Island Continued Competency Program. Under regulation 216-RICR-20-10-2, renewal is a completed application, the fee, and maintained NREMT certification; the regulation adds no state-specific courses or local hours on top of that.
