How do you renew an EMS certification in New York?
New York runs an independent state recertification with two cycle options. On the three-year cycle a CFR needs 25 hours, an EMT 45, an AEMT 50, an EMT-CC 55 and a paramedic 60. On the five-year option every level needs a flat 130 hours. Only part of the hours may be self-study or online, and a CME-based recertification with medical-director sign-off is available using forms DOH-5067 and DOH-5066.
