How do you renew an EMS certification in Montana?
Montana licenses Emergency Care Providers, its term for EMR, EMT, AEMT and paramedic, through the Department of Labor and Industry, which took the program over from the Board of Medical Examiners on January 10, 2026. Licenses renew every two years by March 31, with online renewal open from February 1. Montana sets no hours of its own: you prove NREMT continued competency either with a current NREMT card or with a certificate from your lead instructor or medical director that you completed the same training.
