How do you renew an EMS certification in Georgia?
Georgia renews EMS licenses every two years on a state pathway: 40 hours made up of 8 pediatric, 4 cardiovascular (STEMI and stroke), 4 trauma and 24 general hours, excluding CPR and ACLS, for EMT, EMT-I, AEMT, Cardiac Technician and paramedic. The one exception is the EMT-Responder level, which follows the 16-hour EMR NCCP and must keep current NREMT. Renewal runs October 1 to March 31, with a $75 fee and an IdentoGO fingerprint background check since January 2025.
