How do you keep track of EMS certifications?

Keep one record, not six. One place that holds every credential you carry, the file for each, its expiration, and the CE hours that renew it, with reminders that fire before anything lapses. That can be a folder and a calendar if you are disciplined about it, or an app built to do it. Here is what the record has to contain either way.

What the record has to hold

1. Every credential, by issuerNREMT, the state license, BLS, ACLS, PALS, PHTLS or ITLS, NRP, FP-C or CCP-C, and whatever the agency requires. Each with its number and its issuer.
2. The fileThe card or certificate as issued, named so you can find it: not IMG_4471.jpg, not three copies of ACLS under three names.
3. The expirationThe date, and a reminder before it, far enough out to finish the CE. 90 days is the first one that matters.
4. The CE, mappedEach certificate, and which credentials it counts toward. One course can renew NREMT and the state license at once; the record has to say so.
5. The historyExpired cards are proof you were current. Keep them.

A folder and a calendar work if you keep them. The parts that break are the reminders, which have to be set by hand for every card, and the CE mapping, which a folder cannot do.
